Repentance

The sinner stands on the prayer mat.
What arrogance he has
the audacity to sin
yet still go on the prayer mat
And seek forgiveness.

But if the mercy of the Lord
was limited to saints only....
We would all be in trouble.

This time its different.
The same words as last time
But this time he means it.
And seeks a way to show
his sincerity, yet his helplessness.

There is no need for words, though.
The heart communicates silently.
And he knows he has been forgiven.
The tremor in his heart tells him
The tears in his eyes tell him
he is happy at his tears
for they tell him that
his heart is no longer hard

He is now free
