The Master

He approaches his master
with a flower in hand
which he has picked

He has picked
the best he could find
"This, sire, is for you"

The master smiles.
he knows it has come
From his own garden

Yet he is pleased.
Not because
of its value
for he has millions
of these
some better.

No.
He is pleased
with the sincerity
with which the servant
offered it to him.
And rewards him
abundantly,

------

From a story I heard in a lecture.
